Ellipse Detection Using Canny Edge Detection Algorithm

Abstract


This paper presents a algorithm to detect and accurately locate ellipse objects in digital images. The algorithm consists of two steps. First the edge pixels are extracted using Canny edge detection algorithm and then a noise removal process is run to remove the non-ellipse edge points. In the second step, Freeman Chain code is applied to detect ellipse from the digital images. The code is done in MATLAB R2010a.
